AMMAN — Registrations of sole proprietorships and trade names increased in 2025, with 25,600 sole proprietorships recorded during the year compared with 21,499 in the same period of 2024, according to figures released by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply on Sunday.
Ministry spokesperson Yanal Barmawi said that the Central Commercial Registry Directorate recorded 10,023 trade names in 2025, compared with 7,586 during the corresponding period last year, reflecting increased economic momentum and entrepreneurial activity, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The directorate also registered 228 commercial agencies and 44 commercial agents and brokers, while around 11,089 trade names were amended over the same period, according to Barmawi.
He noted that the directorate continues to work to create a supportive investment and commercial environment that encourages the establishment of industries, crafts and commercial professions, while facilitating business operations for agents and brokers.
Barmawi added that the directorate publicises the names of traders and commercial establishments to enhance transparency and confidence in commercial transactions, and to protect the rights of traders and their counterparts.
DoS also announces registered rights on movable assets to help buyers and financiers make informed decisions and to disclose any existing claims on such assets, Petra reported.
