AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi reiterated on Monday that Parliament stands firmly behind His Majesty King Abdullah in all efforts to protect Jordan and preserve its stability.
Speaking during a legislative session attended by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and government officials, Qadi strongly condemned Iranian missile attacks on Jordan and Gulf countries, describing the strikes as a “grave violation of state sovereignty, a clear breach of international law, and a threat to regional peace.”
“In the midst of ongoing military confrontations involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, Jordan will not tolerate any infringement on its sovereignty, nor will it allow its territory to become a battlefield,” Qadi said.
He noted that Jordan had made every effort to pursue peaceful solutions regarding the Iranian issue, supporting all channels of dialogue and negotiation. “Yet the Iranian side violated our lands in an unacceptable act, met with courage and heroism by the Jordanian Army and the Royal Jordanian Air Force,” he added.
Qadi reiterated that Jordan will not be drawn into any regional escalation and described the nation’s sovereignty as a “red line.” He also condemned attacks on the brotherly Gulf states, stressing that Jordan views Gulf security as intertwined with its own and supports its neighbours in safeguarding their homelands.
The Speaker paid tribute to the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), saying, “We salute the Arab Army for defending our skies and lands. We congratulate His Majesty on the anniversary of the Arabization of the army leadership, a historic and courageous decision by the late King Hussein bin Talal, which strengthened Jordan’s sovereignty and ensured the army remains a lasting symbol of loyalty, discipline, and sacrifice.”
Qadi added that this legacy continues under the guidance of King Abdullah, who is leading the military towards further modernisation and professionalism.
The House of Representatives voted unanimously to adopt Qadi’s speech as an official parliamentary statement.
