Agricultural producer prices increase by 6.9% until October 2025

AMMAN — The Department of Statistics (DoS) on Wednesday said that the agricultural producers’ price index (APPI) rose by 6.9 per cent during the first ten months of 2025, compared with the same period in 2024.
 
For October 2025, the index recorded an increase of 14.6 per cent compared with October 2024, and a decrease of 0.99 per cent compared to the preceding month of the same year.
 
The cumulative index for the first ten months of this year amounted at 115.7 points, compared with 108.2 for the same period in 2024, Al Mamlaka TV reported.
 
The index for October 2025 reached 116.8 points compared with 101.9 for the same month in 2024. However, the October index (116.8) recorded a decline when compared with September's figure of 117.9.
 
The first ten months of 2025, compared with the same period in 2024, prices rose for several crops, most notably hot peppers, green sweet peppers and bananas, which together represented a relative importance of 63.5 per cent.
 
Meanwhile, prices declined for crops including potatoes, coloured sweet peppers, and eggplant, with a relative importance of 36.5 per cent.
 
The rise in the APPI for last October compared with the same month in 2024 is attributed to the increase in the index for several major crops, including: lemons, dates and tomatoes.
 
The relative importance of the crops with increased prices accounted for 63.6 per cent. While, the index for several crops declined, most notably: potatoes, green corn, and zucchini, with their relative importance reaching 36.4 per cent.
 
Comparing the APPI for last October with the preceding September, prices for a group of crops accounted for 62.9 per cent of relative importance decreased, most notably: cauliflower, white cabbage, and green beans.
 
Conversely, the index for a group of crops increased, primarily tomatoes, loose mallow (molokhia), and coloured sweet peppers, with a relative importance of 37.1 per cent.
