AMMAN — Under Royal directives, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) said on Thursday it dispatched a new humanitarian aid convoy to Lebanon, as part of its ongoing efforts to respond to the humanitarian situation in the country.
The convoy, comprising 15 trucks loaded with food supplies, medicines and essential relief items, was organised in coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) and the Foreign Ministry.
JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli said that the mission reaffirms Jordan's steadfast commitment to assisting Arab nations during times of crisis.
He stressed that the move comes in response to a dire humanitarian situation in Lebanon that cannot be delayed, underscoring that “Jordan’s efforts are not temporary but part of a sustained commitment that will continue as long as the need remains.”
Shibli added that this latest aid follows a 25-truck convoy sent in March, in line with Royal directives, to assist Lebanon amid difficult circumstances.
Lebanon is sliding deeper into a humanitarian crisis that could soon escalate into a full-scale catastrophe, the United Nations refugee agency has warned.
According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), more than one million people—roughly one in five residents—have been displaced in Lebanon since March 2, marking a dramatic surge in the country’s instability.
Karolina Lindholm Billing, the UNHCR’s representative in Lebanon, said that conditions on the ground are deteriorating rapidly as displacement figures continue to climb.
“It is really a deepening humanitarian crisis that we here on the ground are seeing in Lebanon,” she told reporters in Geneva via video link from Beirut.
She warned that the situation remains “extremely worrying,” adding that the risk of a humanitarian catastrophe is “real.”
