AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Sunday inspected four cultural, educational, productive, and tourist sites in Jerash and Irbid governorates as part of his regular field tours.

The prime minister began his tour by inaugurating the Jerash Cultural Centre, a prominent cultural landmark serving the local community and intellectuals, according to a Prime Ministry statement.

In the presence of the minister of culture, he received a briefing on the centre, which includes numerous facilities for cultural and artistic activities, such as indoor and outdoor theatres, a library, and multi-purpose halls for training in music, painting, arts, drama, Arabic calligraphy, decoration, and other artistic disciplines.

The prime minister also toured the centre’s facilities, listening to trainees and beneficiaries about ongoing activities and events.

He instructed that trainers be provided for the various arts, that the library be equipped with modern books, and that the centre’s halls be fitted with up-to-date computers.

The centre was built on a plot of eight dunums, covering an area of 3,500 square metres over three floors, in a location that facilitates easy access for beneficiaries.

In Irbid, accompanied by former prime minister Abdul Raouf Rawabdeh, Chairman of the Irbid Development Foundation, the Premier visited the permanent exhibition of agricultural and rural products.

The exhibition, whose final construction and preparation stages were completed, will soon open to serve farmers and owners of productive projects in Irbid and neighbouring governorates.

In the presence of the ministers of local administration and agriculture, the prime minister was briefed on the exhibition’s facilities, which provide a permanent gateway for farmers and producers to market their products and contribute to job creation.

The project was established in cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture, the Irbid Development Foundation, and the Irbid Governorate Council, with contributions from the Royal Hashemite Court.

The permanent exhibition, situated adjacent to King Abdullah Gardens in Irbid, spans 4,500 square metres over three floors and features exhibition halls, production kitchens, an outdoor theatre, a dedicated sales area, meeting rooms, and other service facilities.

The Prime Minister also inspected Irbid Secondary Comprehensive School for Boys, one of the oldest schools in Jordan, reviewing its condition and hearing recommendations for its development and facility improvements.

He directed a full expansion and renovation of the school, including upgrading its laboratories while preserving its historical and heritage value.

The prime minister also instructed the rehabilitation of Tel Irbid into a public park with squares and recreational spaces for local residents, directing all relevant ministries and institutions to cooperate with the Irbid Municipality on the project while preserving its heritage buildings, including the old schools.

The Premier also inspected the archaeological site of Umm Qais, reviewing ongoing rehabilitation and development works aimed at enhancing its tourist appeal.

In the presence of the minister of tourism, he ordered the maintenance and upgrading of the Umm Qais Museum and expedited the restoration plan for the heritage village, to reinforce the site’s prominence on Jordan’s tourism map and preserve its significant historical and touristic value, noting that Umm Qais was recognised by the World Tourism Organization as one of the world’s top tourist villages a few years ago.

He also instructed the paving of roads in the Al Mukhaybah Al Fouqa and Al Mukhaybah Al Tahta areas.
