AMMAN — The Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (JOPCO) said Wednesday that its wholly owned subsidiary, the Jordan Petroleum Products Marketing Company (JoPetrol), is continuing to expand its fuel station network and invest in new energy infrastructure projects across the Kingdom. 

 

According to Al Mamlaka TV, several new fuel stations became operational during the first half of 2026, with additional stations expected to open in the second half of the year as part of the company’s ongoing expansion plans.

 

JOPCO also announced progress in its compressed natural gas (CNG) operations, saying it had received preliminary approval to establish three CNG fueling stations for gas-powered vehicles.

 

The company has also expanded its transport capabilities by adding 30 CNG shipping containers and completed preliminary designs for the Samra gas station supply project.

 

The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) said that it oversees the licensing of natural gas vehicle stations under a regulatory framework based on technical and safety assessments.

 

The commission added that approvals are granted only after operators meet required safety and security standards to ensure operational efficiency and market readiness.

 

In the electric vehicle (EV) sector, JOPCO said that JoPetrol installed new EV chargers at several stations during the first half of the year, bringing the total number of chargers in its network to 199 across 68 locations.

 

The company also signed an exclusive agency agreement with China-based Beny to represent its EV charging solutions in Jordan and neighboring countries. JoPetrol plans to install an additional 20 EV chargers at six new locations during the same period.

 

The company said it aims to expand rapid EV charging services both within its own station network and at external commercial sites, including shopping malls, parking facilities and universities.

 

JoPetrol is also working to enhance operational efficiency through digital transformation initiatives. These include automating fuel order processing through system integration and implementing an artificial intelligence-based system to monitor energy consumption by analyzing load patterns and generation sources.

 

The company further plans to integrate vehicle fuel consumption data with electronic GPS tracking systems to compare fuel purchases with actual vehicle usage. The system is intended to improve fuel management and monitoring for government ministries, public institutions and large companies.
