Syrian opposition factions announce new leadership
Armed opposition groups in Syria issued a statement on Sunday morning after entering the capital, Damascus.
The statement declared the fall of Bashar al-Assad, with the president reportedly leaving the country.
The opposition affirmed their commitment to building a free, just, and democratic Syria where all citizens are equal.
They pledged to maintain Syria’s territorial integrity, protect citizens and their properties, rebuild state institutions, seek national reconciliation, and ensure accountability for crimes committed against the people.
The group identified themselves as the National Transitional Council and, in their closing statement, called for unity among the Syrian people, emphasizing that the new Syria belongs to all.

In a speech shared on his Facebook account, Al-Jalali said, "This country can be a normal country, one that builds good relations with its neighbors and the world.
