AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of Indonesia for the victims of the earthquake that struck the eastern regions of the country.

 

The Ministry Spokesperson Fouad Majali affirmed the Kingdom's full solidarity with the Indonesian government and people during this painful time, according to a ministry statement.

 

He offered condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured and safety for the missing.

 

The death toll from the earthquake that struck eastern Indonesia on Saturday rose to 38, according to disaster management officials. Suharyanto, head of Indonesia's National Disaster Management Authority, confirmed during a news conference that 38 people were killed, two suffered severe injuries, and 11 sustained minor injuries.

 

He added that approximately 1,000 residents voluntarily evacuated the affected areas.
