AMMAN — The Eastern Military Region command on Tuesday thwarted two separate attempts to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics carried by guided balloons within its area of responsibility along its front line.

 

Border Guard units detected the balloons, intercepted and downed them inside Jordanian territory, and seized their narcotics payload in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), according to a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) statement.

 

The seized items were handed over to the competent authorities to initiate the necessary legal procedures.

 

The JAF reaffirmed its commitment to decisively confronting all smuggling and infiltration attempts across the Kingdom’s borders, tracking the various methods and means used, and taking all necessary operational measures to thwart them.
