AMMAN — The Department of Statistics (DoS) on Sunday issued its monthly report on foreign trade, indicating a 1.6 per cent increase in the value of domestic exports during the first quarter of 2026, reaching JD2,129 million.

The report cited that the value of re-exports decreased by 7.1 per cent to JD561 million.

Consequently, total exports amounted to JD2, 690 million, marking a ''slight" decline of 0.4 per cent compared with the same period in 2025, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Meanwhile, imports fell by 2.9 per cent to JD4,597 million during the first quarter of 2026.

Accordingly, the trade balance deficit stood at JD1,907 million, representing a decrease of JD128 million, or 6.3 per cent, compared with the corresponding period in 2025.

Domestic exports are driven largely by fertilisers, potash, pharmaceuticals and garments, while re-exports also contribute to overall trade flows through Jordan's role as a regional trading hub.
