Irbid epidemiological committee recommends lifting quarantine on three buildings

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Irbid Epidemiological Committee on Thursday submitted a recommendation to the COVID-19 Crisis Executive Committee to lift the quarantine placed on two buildings and a house in the governorate.

Director of the Irbid Health Affairs Department Qassim Mayas told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that “more than two weeks have passed” since the buildings were isolated after three residents tested positive for the virus.

Mayas added that the samples collected from the contacts of those infected have come back negative for the second time in a row.

Overall, 11,400 samples have been collected in the governorate since the beginning of the crisis last March, with a total of 130 infections. Of those patients, 116 have recovered, while 14 patients, who are reported in good condition, remain in the King Abdullah University Hospital isolation ward.

Mayas noted that the epidemiological situation in Irbid is "under control" as a result of “tireless efforts exerted by the epidemiological inspection teams and security agencies”, Petra reported.
