UK to continue arms export to Israeli Occupation despite Rafah invasion

Roya News

British Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden confirmed to Reuters that the UK will continue to authorize the export of weapons to Israeli Occupation.

He stated that even if Israeli Occupation conducts military operations in Rafah, it won't automatically halt British arms shipments.

Dowden emphasized that export standards and controls are rigorously evaluated globally, and no single action is considered a definitive red line. He added that these arms exports are expected to continue, echoing recent statements by the Foreign Secretary.

The United States recently blocked a shipment of heavy bombs to Israeli Occupation, opposing any Israeli Occupation attack in Rafah without assurances for civilian protection. British Foreign Secretary David Cameron suggested that halting British weapons exports to Israeli Occupation might bolster Hamas.

Dowden clarified that Israeli Occupation actions in Rafah will not change Britain's policy on arms exports. Regarding the possibility of suspending British arms licenses if Israeli Occupation acts in Rafah, Dowden affirmed the continuation of current British policy.

Israeli Occupation tanks entered Rafah last Tuesday, causing civilians to seek shelter. Over a million Palestinians were displaced from Rafah last October, facing challenges in returning home. Dowden stated that UK continues to express concerns to Israeli Occupation about the impact of battles on civilians and the need for their protection.
