AMMAN — Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani said that "respect for freedoms in Jordan is not merely a slogan, but an established practice guided by clear Royal directives".
In a post marking World Press Freedom Day, he affirmed that the Kingdom upholds the value of freedom while maintaining a balance between the right to expression and adherence to professionalism and accuracy.
He added that freedoms are a core component of national values, reflected in Jordan’s continued progress on international and domestic freedom indices, despite some methodological differences.
Momani stressed that this progress serves as motivation to further enhance the environment for freedoms, particularly freedom of opinion and expression, within a framework that balances “freedom and responsibility”.
He noted that the Jordanian media is characterised by professionalism and respect for the law, playing a key role in promoting truth, countering misinformation, and strengthening trust between citizens and institutions.
