Bank-approved credit facilities rise to around JD6.2b in first five months of 2026 — CBJ

AMMAN — The value of new credit facilities approved by banks operating in Jordan increased during the first five months of 2026, reaching JD6.236 billion compared with JD4.105 billion during the same period in 2025, according to Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) data.
 
The CBJ figures showed that the total value of new credit facility applications submitted by the end of May 2026 rose by 14.6 per cent year-on-year to JD6.724 billion, through around 186,000 applications, compared with JD5.882 billion across 170,000 applications during the same period last year.
 
Of the total applications submitted this year, around 130,000 were approved by the banking system, while more than 55,000 applications valued at JD488 million were rejected.
 
The value of rejected applications declined compared with the same period in 2025, when banks turned down around 42,000 applications worth JD628 million.
