AMMAN — The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) signed a cooperation agreement to implement a project aimed at enhancing early breast cancer detection in southern governorates and improving access to screening and early diagnosis services through mobile screening units.

In the presence of HRH Princess Ghida Talal, chairperson of the board of trustees of KHCF and King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC), the agreement was signed by JPMC CEO Abdulwahab Rawad and KHCF Director-General Nisreen Qatamesh, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

JPMC Chairman Mohammad Thneibat and KHCC Director-General Asem Mansour also attended the signing ceremony.

Princess Ghida said: "We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company for its continued support of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Centre over the years, and for its recent generous donation, which will provide early screening services for women in southern Jordan through the mobile screening unit."

Thneibat expressed the company's pride in its partnership with KHCF and its continued support for the foundation's pioneering humanitarian role in providing comprehensive healthcare services to cancer patients across the Kingdom.

He said that the support reflects the company's national and social responsibility and its belief in the importance of collective national efforts to assist cancer patients.

He stressed the company's commitment to continuing its support for the foundation's initiatives in a way that strengthens healthcare services and expands access to treatment nationwide.

Thneibat added that the KHCC is a national and humanitarian institution of which Jordanians can be proud, praising the advanced and specialised medical care it provides in accordance with the highest standards, as well as the dedication of its management and staff in serving cancer patients.

Under the agreement, JPMC will provide support that includes supplying a mammography machine to be installed in the KHCC's mobile screening unit.

The project targets around 334,000 women in the southern governorates and is expected to enable some 700 women to undergo high-quality mammogram examinations through a mobile bus operating between Maan, Tafileh, Karak and Aqaba.

The project also includes awareness and community outreach activities aimed at increasing public understanding of the importance of early detection and encouraging greater use of screening services in the targeted areas.

In addition, it will support the capacities of local healthcare and community workers and provide reliable data to assist health planning and policymaking.

The agreement builds on JPMC's “longstanding” support for KHCF and KHCC and their mission to combat cancer, while reflecting the company's commitment to social responsibility and creating a lasting positive impact on society.
