AMMAN — Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Abdul Latif Al Najdawi on Wednesday said that the committee tasked with reviewing the Audit Bureau’s clarifications has introduced new measures to accelerate responses to all oversight observations.
Najdawi said that, in line with directives from Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, the committee will conduct regular reviews and intensify follow-up on audit observations, aligning its work with public sector reform efforts, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He added that these efforts will be maintained and strengthened through a dedicated team assigned to follow up with ministries and public institutions, contributing to a reduction in violations across entities subject to the Audit Bureau’s oversight.
The minister noted that the committee recently held a meeting at the Prime Ministry to review clarifications recorded in November and December, covering 33 observations related to 22 institutions and entities. He said all necessary measures were taken to address the issues and recover any funds disbursed in violation of regulations.
Najdawi stressed that none of the cases discussed required referral to the Public Prosecution or the Anti-Corruption Commission. He said the observations included violations related to the recruitment and employment of foreign labour, the payment of allowances and bonuses to employees on projects without adherence to actual working hours, delays in collecting revenues due to the Treasury, and irregularities in certain tenders.
He also pointed to irregularities in faculty appointment procedures at some universities, as well as the payment of allowances and bonuses to municipal employees without proper justification.
