The Palestinian presidency issued a statement today, Wednesday, welcoming the announcement by Norway, Spain, and Ireland recognizing the State of Palestine.

In its statement, the Palestinian presidency appreciated this decision's contribution to affirming the Palestinian people's right to self-determination on their land and taking practical steps to support the implementation of the two-state solution.

"The right of peoples to self-determination is a firmly established right recognized under international law,” it said.

Palestine reiterated its ongoing call for countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to acknowledge their responsibilities and affirm the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, thereby restoring confidence in a global system based on rules and equal rights for all peoples.

The Palestinian presidency urged world nations, especially European countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine, to do so in accordance with the internationally recognized two-state solution based on the 1967 borders and in line with international legitimacy and law.
