AMMAN — Royal Jordanian Air Force fighter jets intercepted and shot down four drones that entered the Kingdom’s airspace over the past 24 hours, the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) announced on Saturday.
A source at the JAF General Command said that no casualties or material damage were reported following the interceptions.
The source reaffirmed the armed forces' full readiness to counter any threats to the Kingdom’s security or the safety of its citizens, whether posed by drones or missiles.
The military source did not identify the origin of the drones. However, an earlier JAF statement said that air defence systems had intercepted and shot down ten Iranian missiles targeting the Kingdom on Saturday.
According to the statement, the interceptions were carried out as part of approved operational and defensive measures to safeguard the country’s borders, airspace and citizens.
JAF said that the incident caused neither casualties nor material damage. It added that Royal Engineering Corps teams dealt with the falling debris in accordance with established technical and security procedures.
The armed forces also said they continue to monitor Jordanian airspace and closely follow developments while maintaining the highest level of operational readiness.
JAF urged the public to rely solely on official statements issued by the armed forces and the relevant authorities, and to refrain from circulating rumours or unverified information.
