Army chief visits Hawk Missile Unit, says JAF ready to defend airspace, counter threats

AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Ahmed Huneiti on Tuesday visited the Hawk Missile Unit, Mod/20, where he was received by the Royal Jordanian Air Force Commander and the unit commander.
 
During the visit, Huneiti was briefed on the unit’s technical and operational readiness, as well as on the measures recently taken to counter missiles and drones that targeted sites and facilities across several governorates of the Kingdom.
 
He emphasised that protecting the Kingdom’s airspace is a sovereign duty that must always be upheld, noting that the JAF will safeguard the airspace and respond firmly to any threat to national security and the safety of its citizens, in accordance with precise operational procedures.
 
Huneiti highlighted that, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the General Command is continuing to develop and modernise air defence systems in line with current requirements and modern technological advances.
 
He added that investment in specialised training and professional development remains ongoing, enhancing readiness and reinforcing the level of professionalism in carrying out assigned duties.
 
Huneiti, accompanied by a number of senior Armed Forces officers, joined personnel at the Martyr Muwafaq Salti Air Base for Maghrib prayer and Iftar.
 
He also commended their commitment and alertness in defending the Kingdom’s airspace and ensuring its security and stability, stressing that the JAF will continue to serve as the Kingdom’s unwavering shield and bulwark against all threats.
