AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi held talks on Sunday with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani that focused on bilateral ties and regional developments.

 

The two ministers discussed ways to further strengthen the Amman-Doha ties, as well as regional developments, particularly efforts to de-escalate tensions, restore calm and enhance security and stability in the region, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

 

Safadi and Sheikh Mohammed stressed the need for all parties to uphold dialogue and diplomacy and implement the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran, especially with regard to the freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

 

Both sides also reaffirmed Jordan and Qatar’s full support for efforts aimed at defusing tensions and reaching a comprehensive agreement that addresses all causes of the crisis and achieves lasting security and stability in the region, the statement said.
