AMMAN — Secretary-General of the Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) Hisham Haisa and President of the Association of Merchants and Producers of Agricultural Materials Saleh Yassin on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at boosting cooperation to support the agricultural sector.
The MoU seeks to enhance the agricultural investment environment and improve water resource management, contributing to sustainable agricultural development and food security, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Haisa said that the agreement falls within the framework of enhancing partnerships with the private sector and supporting agricultural investment.
He referred to the importance of increasing water-use efficiency and encouraging the adoption of modern technologies in irrigation and agricultural production to achieve sustainability and serve farmers and investors.
JVA attaches great importance to providing an attractive investment climate in the Jordan Valley regions by developing services, streamlining procedures, and improving water management efficiency to support qualitative agricultural projects and generate added value for the national economy, Haisa added.
Yassin said that the MoU represents a “major” step towards boosting public-private cooperation and creating a supportive environment for agricultural investment, alongside exchanging expertise and promoting modern technologies to enhance the sector's competitiveness.
The memorandum covers cooperation in upgrading water resource management services, facilitating agricultural investment procedures, exchanging technical data and expertise, and encouraging the application of modern irrigation techniques to ensure the sector's sustainability and serve national development goals.
