AMMAN — The spokesperson of the Public Security Directorate said Friday that the attack carried out by unidentified individuals at a funeral in the sourhern Karak Governorate left six martyrs and 28 injured.

 

In a statement, the directorate’s spokesperson expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

 

The spokesperson said investigations into the incident were underway and that the directorate would provide the media with updates on the findings as they become available.

 

Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani said that security forces in the field are following up on an incident of gunfire in Karak.

 

In a post on X platform, Momani added that statements with information will be issued once verified.

 

“We call on everyone to give space to the security forces to take the necessary measures and to obtain information from its official sources,” he said.
