AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Sunday chaired a meeting with government officials and private sector representatives to review measures to sustain supply chains and streamline operations at the Port of Aqaba and border crossings amid ongoing regional developments.

 

During the meeting, Hassan stressed the need for continued coordination between government agencies and the private sector to ensure the smooth flow of goods through Aqaba and the Kingdom’s border points, according to a Prime Minister statement.

 

The meeting went over operations at the Port of Aqaba, which is operating at full capacity as a regional logistics hub.

 

The port has seen increased demand from international shipping companies and foreign markets while maintaining competitive handling times to ensure uninterrupted cargo movement, the statement said.

 

The meeting also discussed logistical plans and alternative routes aimed at mitigating the impact of regional conditions and ensuring the continued availability of essential commodities in the local market.

 

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh, Minister of Transport and Minister of Labour Nidal Katamine, Minister of Government Communication Mohammad Momani; Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah, Customs Department Director General Maj. Gen. Ahmad Akalik; Aqaba Development Corporation CEO Hussein Safadi, Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Chief Commissioner Shadi Majali and representatives of the Amman Chamber of Commerce and the private sector.
