AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan vowed that those responsible for the deadly attack in Karak Governorate would be brought to justice, pledging a sweeping security response and strict legal measures against extremism.
Speaking during a security meeting in Karak, Hassan expressed condolences for the victims, describing them as among the finest sons of the nation, and wished the injured a speedy recovery, according to a Prime Ministry statement.
“The criminal hands that took the lives of our noble sons today [on Wednesday] will not escape punishment,” Hassan said, adding that the government would mobilise all available resources to ensure those responsible face justice.
Hassan said that the measures were being implemented in accordance with directives from His Majesty King Abdullah, stressing that security agencies would pursue the perpetrators without hesitation.
The prime minister attributed the attack to “extremist terrorist ideology and blind radicalism,” warning that the government would not allow such ideologies to gain a foothold in Jordanian society.
He also vowed the strictest legal action against anyone who incites discord or seeks to promote extremism within the community.
“Under the King’s leadership, Jordan would continue to stand firmly against takfiri ideology and the groups. The Khawarej have no place in our society,” Hassan said.
“Anyone found to have cooperated with such groups would likewise have no place in Jordanian society.”
