AMMAN — Exports from the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) surpassed the JD4 billion mark during the first seven months of 2026, registering a 7 per cent growth compared with the same period in 2025, according to statistical data released by the chamber.

 

The ACI reported that exports rose to JD4.506 billion from JD4.212 billion recorded during the corresponding period last year, reflecting the resilience of Jordan's industrial sector and its capacity to adapt to economic challenges by diversifying products and expanding into non-traditional markets in Africa, Europe and non-Arab Asian countries.

 

Most industrial sectors posted positive export growth, with the packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies sector leading the increase with a 44.4 per cent jump.

 

The leather and garment sector recorded the lowest growth at 1.1 per cent.

 

Exports declined in two sectors; mining industries fell by 1.9 per cent, while engineering, electrical, and information technology industries dropped by 9.2 per cent.

 

The primary destination markets, India, the United States, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, collectively imported JD2.282 billion worth of goods from ACI members during the seven-month period.

 

Iraq emerged as the top destination overall, with exports rising 24.1 per cent to reach JD644 million, up from JD534 million during the same period last year.

 

Exports to Saudi Arabia grew by 1.5 per cent to JD499 million, compared with JD491 million in 2025.

 

Exports to Syria surged by 25.1 per cent to JD234 million, up from JD186 million, while exports to Palestine grew by 27.9 per cent to reach JD121 million, compared with JD94 million during the same period last year.

 

The ACI also recorded export growth to several other markets, including Spain, Australia, the UAE, Bahrain, Denmark, Sudan, China, Germany, Morocco, Greece, Angola and South Africa.

 

By geographic region, Arab countries received the largest share of ACI exports at JD2.338 billion, followed by non-Arab Asian countries at JD1.009 billion, and North American nations at JD569 million.

 

Exports to European Union countries reached JD303 million, non-EU European countries imported JD152 million, African nations received JD53 million, and South American countries accounted for JD37 million, with other regions taking up JD45 million.

 

In contrast, exports to the US dropped by 23.1 per cent to JD534 million, down from JD694 million during the same period in 2025. Exports to India decreased by 13.6 per cent to JD605 million, compared with JD700 million last year.

 

By sectoral distribution, mining industries accounted for JD1.010 billion of total exports, followed by chemical and cosmetic industries at JD937 million, and food, agricultural, and livestock products at JD619 million.

 

Engineering, electrical, and IT industries generated JD574 million, therapeutic and medical supplies accounted for JD454 million, and leather and garments reached JD373 million.

 

The remaining exports were distributed across packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies (JD213 million), plastics and rubber (JD194 million), construction materials (JD118 million), and wooden products and furniture (JD14 million).

 

Established in 1962, the ACI currently represents 8,600 industrial establishments with a combined capital of nearly JD5 billion, employing over 159,000 workers.
