AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Monday hosted a meeting to discuss accelerating digital transformation projects involving the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and the PSD.

Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat, and PSD Director Maj. Gen. Obeidallah Maaytah attended the meeting, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Discussions focused on a number of completed joint digital service projects and their impact on improving services for citizens, as well as new and ongoing initiatives aimed at expanding automation and streamlining procedures across the three institutions.

Talhouni stressed the ministry’s commitment to boosting cooperation with the PSD as a key partner in supporting the justice system and law enforcement, particularly in integrating judicial procedures with security frameworks.

He highlighted progress in digital transformation, especially the remote litigation programme, which has helped simplify court procedures and reduce time and effort.

Smeirat underscored the ministry’s role in leading digital transformation efforts in partnership with government entities, noting that the PSD has been a major partner in implementing several projects that have streamlined services and reduced traditional administrative procedures.

He added that further joint projects are in the pipeline, with efforts under way to accelerate their rollout and achieve full automation of PSD services within a defined timeline.

Maaytah said that the PSD has been among the leading institutions in adopting digital transformation, making significant progress in automating procedures and services across its various departments, including driver and vehicle licensing, judicial enforcement, preventive security, ICT, criminal information, and operations and control centres.

He noted that ongoing cooperation with the two ministries, along with agreed future projects, will further enhance service delivery through expanded digitalisation.

At the end of the meeting, participants agreed to form a joint committee to oversee all digital transformation projects and set timelines for their completion in line with available resources.
