Jordan condemns Houthi attack on southern Saudi Arabia

AMMAN — Jordan on Friday condemned a Houthi attack targeting civilian sites in the Najran region of southern Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as a threat to Saudi Arabia's security, stability, and territorial integrity, and a flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The ministry reaffirmed Jordan's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and expressed support for all measures the kingdom takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

An attack by Yemeni Houthi rebels late Thursday wounded 11 civilians in southern Saudi Arabia, the Riyadh-led coalition said, an unprecedented toll in the kingdom in over four years of hostilities, AFP reported.

They include seven Saudis, two Egyptians, a Yemeni, and a Pakistani, coalition spokesman General Turki Al Maliki said in a statement carried by the official Saudi news agency, adding that the attacks had taken place in the Najran region, on the border with Yemen.
