AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, HRH Crown Prince Hussein, accompanied by HRH Princess Rajwa, attended the Jordan Football Association’s (JFA) celebration of its 75th anniversary, on Tuesday.
During the ceremony, a video was screened about the development of Jordan’s football scene from 1923 up to the national football team’s historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup finals, in addition to the JFA’s role in institutionalising and developing the game, according to a Royal Court statement.
The ceremony featured a musical piece celebrating Jordan’s qualification to the World Cup and the unveiling of a new Jordanian Professional League trophy, designed by Jordanians and depicting engravings that embody national heritage.
The Crown Prince honoured players, coaches, influential figures and partner institutions, in recognition of their contributions to Jordanian football, the statement said.
The ceremony was attended by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Ali, the JFA president, Prince Feisal, the Jordan Olympic Committee president, and Princess Alia, the president of the Royal Jordanian Equestrian Federation, as well as HH Prince Mired bin Ra’ad, Chief Royal Councillor at the Royal Hashemite Court.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino and a number of senior officials and representatives of sports federations from Arab and friendly countries were also in attendance.
In recognition of their efforts in supporting football in Jordan, Prince Ali presented two commemorative shields to His Majesty and the Crown Prince.
JFA’s vision was also presented during the ceremony, along with Jordan’s football strategy for the next four years, which is based on four pillars: technical advancement, empowerment and growth, infrastructure, and social engagement.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the Crown Prince met with FIFA President Infantino, during which they discussed ways to expand sports cooperation between Jordan and FIFA.
