AMMAN — Restrictions barring individuals and public employees from owning public transport vehicles are longstanding provisions and do not constitute new measures, Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission Riyad Kharabsheh said on Saturday.
Kharabsheh said recently issued instructions aim to standardise and simplify procedures as part of preparations for a comprehensive transition to electronic services, according to Al Mamlaka TV.
He noted that licensing, permit issuance and ownership transfers are processed in coordination with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Department and the Jordan Customs Department, adding that unified forms and procedures are intended to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.
Kharabsheh stressed that the core regulatory framework remains unchanged, describing the step as a shift from manual and fragmented processes to a unified digital system.
The measures fall within Jordan’s broader digital transformation agenda, with the Commission working to digitise 42 services by the end of 2026.
