In an unusual weather phenomenon for this time of year, the capital recorded a new November temperature record on Wednesday, reaching nearly 32°C in eastern parts of the city, according to the Jordanian Weather Center (ArabiaWeather).
Official records from Amman Civil Airport show that the previous November high was 31.3°C in 2016, making yesterday’s temperature the highest in over 20 years.
The unusually high temperatures are caused by a relatively hot air mass moving into Jordan from the Arabian Peninsula and Northeast Africa, affecting the capital and other cities. Residents reported daytime temperatures above 29°C for several consecutive days, even in higher-altitude areas.
ArabiaWeather had accurately predicted this record-breaking heat in advance, forecasting maximum temperatures of 32°C in eastern Amman, which was confirmed by official measurements.
