AMMAN — Health Minister Ibrahim Badour on Saturday met with his Iraqi counterpart Saleh Hassnawi to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions reflected the close ties and shared interests between the two countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The meeting took place upon the Iraqi minister’s arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, marking the start of an official visit to Jordan to participate in the second executive office meeting of the Arab Board of Health Specialisations for 2025, scheduled for next Monday in Amman.

Both ministers reaffirmed their governments’ commitment to enhancing coordination and integration across various sectors, particularly health, to serve the interests of their peoples.

Badour highlighted the significant progress in Jordanian-Iraqi relations, especially in healthcare, underscoring the importance of building on existing achievements and utilising bilateral meetings to deepen future cooperation.

He stressed the need for unified efforts and the exchange of medical expertise to improve health systems and strengthen the capabilities of medical professionals in both countries.

The upcoming executive office meeting would address key topics, including the implementation of decisions from the Supreme Council’s inaugural meeting, results of the first 2025 executive session, and outcomes from the academic meeting of the executive office set for Sunday.

The Arab Board of Health Specialisations is a leading regional body dedicated to advancing professional medical education across Arab countries.

It works to standardise training requirements and accredit specialised medical programmes in various fields. The board also plays a critical role in qualifying Arab medical professionals by administering the Arab Board exams and overseeing training programs, thereby enhancing healthcare quality and fostering Arab integration in this vital sector.
