The Jordan Times
AMMAN — Director of Military Media Brig. Gen. Mustafa Hiyari said the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) will begin implementing the Royal directives issued by His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of JAF, regarding the restructuring and modernisation of the JAF, in line with Royal visions aimed at strengthening the national security system.
Hiyari said the directives come at a critically important time amid accelerating regional and international transformations and rapid advances in military technology, which have redefined the concept of military power and the nature of future warfare.
He noted that superiority is no longer measured by numbers, but by the quality of armaments, the efficiency of human resources and the ability to effectively employ advanced technology.
He stressed that His Majesty possesses a clear forward-looking vision based on the principle of not delaying in keeping pace with these transformations, pointing out that the King directed the preparation of a comprehensive strategy and a clear roadmap to ensure the continued readiness and operational capability of the armed forces in a changing regional and international security environment.
Hiyari explained that His Majesty has set a three-year timeframe for implementing the transition and transformation process, achieving a balance between institutional modernisation requirements and technological acceleration, while allowing for the development of combat methods and military performance based on modern and well-considered concepts.
He said the Royal letter underscored the pivotal role of the JAF’s personnel and leadership in implementing the modernisation process.
The letter opened with praise for their efforts in development and modernisation and concluded with directives to immediately proceed with implementing the strategy and roadmap, expressing His Majesty’s full confidence in their ability to shoulder responsibility and carry out their duties, as they have always done.
Hiyari also noted that the modernisation and restructuring process will rely on the vital role of the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), as the national arm specialised in the development and manufacture of defence systems and equipment.
He explained that JODDB works to manufacture and develop defence products that meet the operational needs of the JAF in accordance with the highest technical and technological standards, in line with national defence requirements and the demands of future warfare, contributing to enhanced self-reliance in the defence industries.
Hiyari added that JODDB constitutes a key pillar in the military development system by providing advanced defence solutions, localising technology and supporting modernisation and armament plans, thereby strengthening the readiness of the armed forces and their ability to carry out missions with efficiency and professionalism, in line with Royal directives and visions.
He reaffirmed that the Jordan Armed Forces will continue implementing the Royal directives with full efficiency and capability, enhancing their resilience and capacity to defend Jordan and safeguard its security and stability.
