AMMAN — A total of 2,778 families have left the National Aid Fund’s support scheme after family members secured sustainable employment through the National Employment Programme since mid-2022, the Ministry of Labour said on Sunday.

The programme has signed 61,580 subsidised employment contracts, including 31,565 for women, accounting for 51.2 per cent of the total, ministry spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud said in a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The figures highlight the programme’s efforts to increase labour market participation among target groups and promote women’s economic empowerment, he added.

According to Zyoud, the programme has benefited 21,302 people and 597 companies in the northern region, 34,462 people and 985 companies in the central region, and 5,816 people and 289 companies in the southern region.

The number of establishments registered with the programme has risen to 3,766, spanning a range of economic sectors and activities, he said.

On training and skills development, Zyoud said 53,190 employees had received job-related skills training, while a further 11,527 had undergone training in workplace skills and occupational safety and health in cooperation with the Vocational Training Corporation.

“These initiatives aim to support sustainable employment and strengthen workforce capabilities,” he added.

The programme’s management also held six awareness-raising activities and meetings in July across most of the Kingdom’s governorates to expand partnerships, prepare young people for the labour market, and inform them about available job opportunities and career pathways, Zyoud said.

According to the National Aid Fund’s (NAF) 2026 annual report, more than 1.15 million Jordanians, representing around 13.48 per cent of the country’s population, benefited from monthly cash assistance programmes in 2025.

The report said 248,912 households, comprising 1,159,438 individuals, received monthly cash transfers totalling around JD21.2 million.
