AMMAN — The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) arrested 14 drug dealers and promoters, including two classified as dangerous, and seized narcotic substances and firearms in eight major cases in several areas of the Kingdom.

 

In the most prominent case, a specialised force raided a suspect in Balqa Governorate after confirming that he was in possession of heroin. He was arrested and one kilogramme of heroin was seized.

 

In Amman, the force carried out two raids targeting two people classified as dangerous and wanted in drug-related cases at separate locations. Both were arrested and firearms and quantities of narcotic substances were seized.

 

In Karak, information was received that two people were linked to regional gangs involved in drug dealing and smuggling and had prepared a large quantity of narcotic pills for smuggling to a neighbouring country.

 

After verifying the information, the force raided the suspects and arrested them. It seized 75,000 narcotic pills concealed in a secret compartment inside a cargo vehicle.

 

In cooperation with security agencies and the Jordan Customs Department, a suspect was arrested at Queen Alia International Airport while attempting to receive a package containing half a kilogramme of crystal methamphetamine.

 

In the Northern Badia areas, the AND dealt with three major cases. In the first, a force raided the home of a drug dealer and arrested him, seizing one kilogramme of crystal methamphetamine, 10 bundles of hashish and 4,000 narcotic pills. Another person who was with him was also arrested.

 

In the second case, the force monitored a drug dealer while he was transporting narcotic substances towards Zarqa Governorate. He was stopped and arrested, and 7,000 narcotic pills were seized.

 

In the third case, the force seized 4,000 narcotic pills from two people after raiding their location and arresting them.

 

In Mafraq Governorate, the force raided a house used by drug dealers and promoters to store narcotic substances. Three people were arrested inside and eight bundles of hashish were seized.
