AMMAN — The Southern Military Region on Saturday thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using a drone along one of Jordan’s border fronts.
According to a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) statement, border guard units detected the drone, applied the approved rules of engagement and brought it down inside Jordanian territory.
The operation was carried out in coordination with relevant military and security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, which seized the illegal shipment. The confiscated items were referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.
Also on Friday, the Southern Military Region thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using two drones along one of its border fronts.
Border guard units detected the drones, applied the rules of engagement, and downed them along with their cargo inside Jordanian territory,
The operation was carried out in coordination with military and security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. The seized items were referred to the competent authorities for legal action.
JAF reiterated that border guard forces continue to carry out their duties with a high level of efficiency and readiness, stressing that troops remain prepared to prevent infiltration and smuggling attempts and respond firmly to any threats targeting the Kingdom’s security and stability.
