AMMAN — Jordan capped their FIFA Arab Cup 2025 group campaign with an emphatic 3-0 win over Egypt at Al Bayt Stadium in Doha on Tuesday, sealing top spot in Group C with nine points from three matches.

With qualification already assured, Jordan coach Jamal Sellami opted to rotate his squad, while Egypt came into the match on two points and needing a victory to keep their hopes alive. Despite the contrasting stakes, Jordan controlled the tempo early on, creating two clear chances inside the first ten minutes.

Mohammad Abu Hasheesh opened the scoring in the 19th minute, capitalising on a deflected ball that left him through on goal before calmly slotting past goalkeeper Mohamed Bassam.

Mohammed Abu Zrayq doubled the lead in the 41st minute with a brilliant solo run, cutting inside and firing into the top corner, leaving Bassam with no chance. Jordan carried their two-goal advantage into the break.

Egypt pushed forward after the restart, but Jordan sat deep, relying on counter-attacks and a standout performance from goalkeeper Noureddin Zaid, who produced several crucial saves to preserve the lead.

In the 50th minute, Odeh Fakhoury appeared to have added a third after muscling past defenders and lifting the ball over the Egyptian keeper, but the referee ruled the goal out.

Jordan eventually secured the third deep into stoppage time when substitute Ali Olwan converted a penalty after being brought on for the final minutes.

The victory marks Jordan’s first-ever win over Egypt in Arab Cup history.

In the group’s other match, the UAE defeated Kuwait 3-1 to progress alongside Jordan with four points.
